NAPE Education Foundation Receives Motorola Solutions Foundation Innovation Generation Grant

Gap, PA (11/5/14) — The National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity (NAPE) Education Foundation, the nation’s leading professional alliance for access, equity, and diversity in education, training, and careers, today announced it has received a grant for $50,000 as part of the “Innovation Generation Grant” program from the Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc. Through the grant, NAPE will broaden the impact of its STEM Equity Pipeline.

The Innovation Generation program awards organizations such as NAPE that foster and support STEM initiatives for teachers and U.S. preschool through university students–especially girls and underrepresented minorities.

The grant will support continuing work with two school districts in Illinois and California to provide on-site training, mini-grants to teachers, and technical assistance to implement an effective outreach strategy to increase female participation in STEM programs in the schools or to implement in their classrooms new pedagogy proven to increase female achievement in STEM.

As explained by NAPE CEO Mimi Lufkin, “Motorola Solutions Foundation’s continuing support of our STEM Equity Pipeline work at U46 School District in Illinois and San Jose High School in California is an investment in teacher professional development that is indicative of its commitment to increasing the diversity of the STEM workforce. We have embarked on a partnership with these two school districts that is proving to be effective in increasing the participation of underrepresented students in STEM thanks to Motorola Solutions Foundation’s support.”
