Lifetime Achievement

Judy D’Amico

Judy served sixteen years with the NAPE Education Foundation. Five years of that time she served in the presidential leadership role of which one occurred because of the premature departure of the NAPE EF President.

She presided over two NAPE EF CEO transitions, where she was resolute in implementing processes that ensure NAPE EF flourished. Judy invited the NAPE leadership to participate in joint committees encouraging the collaboration between the two organizations and strengthening their shared mission.

Judy presided over a strategic planning process that expanded the mission of the NAPE EF beyond gender equity to include special populations and minorities as Carl Perkins regulations require. NAPE EF has always been in support of gender equity professional development curriculum that included the variety of multicultural differences that have historically limited students’ success. The language in the current strategic plan makes it clearer that NAPE can customize professional development to the needs of the local educational agency.

As chair of the Governance Committee, she was also instrumental in identifying new Board members that reflected our country’s multicultural populations. It was her hope that their participation would ensure that NAPE EF continues to meet the needs of special populations and minorities as they enter and complete education (STEM and CTE) and employment systems (Workforce).

Judy’s leadership on the Development Committee has stewarded many relationships that have and will lead to grants, contracts, and donations that are imperative to sustaining the work of NAPE EF. She leveraged her extensive board service on other local, state, and national boards to help NAPE EF’s network grow.

As NAPE EF President, Judy participated in all standing and special committees. She worked tirelessly for the good of the organization.
