Description
As problem and project-based learning (PBL) gains popularity in STEM classrooms, and as the disparity of women and students of color in many STEM disciplines remains the same, specific strategies can be applied to PBL to improve equity and access. NAPE’s Ensuring Equity in Project-Based Learning Toolkit (available May 2017) can assist educators in transforming their practices to ensure every student can be successful.
The toolkit reviews key components of PBL, describes how an equitable PBL approach can positively affect marginalized groups, and provides strategies that educators can use to improve their PBL practices to make learning more equitable. This reflection tool—from the soon to be released Toolkit—supports evaluation and reflection on current practices.
