Secretary King to Give Remarks at CTE Event

U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. will deliver remarks at the “Shattering Stereotypes – Creating Opportunities for Women and Girls in Non-traditional Career and Technical Education (CTE) Fields” event on Wednesday, June 15, at the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C.

King will speak about the importance of involving traditionally underserved groups, including women and girls, in CTE.

The event, which is part of The United State of Women Summit, will highlight that although some progress has been made to increase enrollment of students in CTE fields that are non-traditional for their sex, disparities still persist. It will also focus on strategies for ensuring equitable access to CTE programs by eliminating practices that discriminate based on sex, which can increase overall participation in high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand jobs for all students, including women and girls.
