Equal Rights Amendment Reintroduced

On June 22, 2011, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) reintroduced the Equal Rights Amendment (H.J. Res. 69 and S.J.Res.21). The 88-year-old amendment has been reintroduced every year since it narrowly failed to meet the required number of state ratifications in 1982. To support the reintroduction, Maloney pointed to the Supreme Court Wal-Mart decision as a "classic example of how far attitudes must still come." Learn More
