Girl
Shatters Stereotypes Under the Hood KETV Omaha
Auto mechanic has traditionally been a man's trade, but
a 17-year-old Omaha girl is changing that perception. Sydney Gard is
breaking barriers, showing her teachers and fellow students that
working on cars isn't just a guy thing. She'll even prove it at a
competition Thursday. "I've been the only girl for the last two
years," Gard said of Omaha's auto technology program. Gard won
the state motorcycle repair competition, and she's headed to the
state Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills competition, where officials bug
cars and students have to figure out how to fix them. Read
