Members of NAPE are welcome to join a committee to help strengthen our efforts and forward our collective agenda to achieve equity in education and workforce development across the country.
Conference calls, generally quarterly, depending on the work of the committee
Offer feedback, suggestions, and expertise as it relates to the committee’s agenda
Work with committee members to accomplish goals for the year
Identify volunteers from NAPE membership for committees
Committee chairs are chosen from the NAPE Executive Committee. Members of the NAPE Executive Committee are expected to fully participate in the work of any committees they chair and participate in the implementation of the NAPE annual Program of Work.
Below are the six committees that offer open membership with an overview of the committee’s responsibilities and the contact information for the chair and members of the committee. If you are interested in joining a committee, please contact the national office.

Responsibilities:
- Review award and award criteria
- Create and implement award application and selection process
- Manage the awards program at the National Summit for Educational Equity
Bylaws

Responsibilities:
- Review bylaws annually
- Seek changes from membership
- Follow bylaws revision process as outline in the bylaws
Finance
Chair: Aime’e Julian

Responsibilities:
- Develop the annual budget for NAPE Executive Committee approval
- Regularly review the investment and financial reports of the organization
- Prepare the Treasurer’s report for every NAPE Board Meeting
- Review the annual audit and make recommendations to the Executive Committee
Member Services

Responsibilities:
- Update and/or assist in the development of communication documents for new state and affiliate members.
- Provide input to and feedback to NAPE staff regarding marketing materials.
- Survey membership periodically about needs and interest in new materials and services.
- Identify membership recruitment strategies/materials.
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy for consulting and professional development services.
- Convene a reception or facilitate an activity to engage first time attendees at the National Summit for Educational Equity
Nominating

Responsibilities:
- Select a slate of individuals to run for the open offices on the NAPE Executive Committee for the upcoming year
- Assist the NAPE Education Foundation Board in the identification of potential board members
Professional Development

Responsibilities:
- Identify potential professional development needs from the membership
- Identify professional development opportunities and submit on the NAPE website
- Develop and implement the agenda for the annual professional development institute
- Conduct one additional professional development event for NAPE members using alternative technology (e.g. webcast, audio-conference, on-line workshop)
Public Policy & Advocacy

- Stay informed regarding federal legislative activity affecting equity in education and workforce development
- Work with the Public Policy Director to draft position papers
Summit Planning
